TJ (Toast and Jam)

Toast and Jam is a gorgeous 11-year-old tortoiseshell who was thrown away by her previous owners. Luckily, S.A.L.T. Rescue took her into their care and got her the vet care she needed including dental surgery, spay surgery, and vaccinations.

The S.A.L.T. Rescue Team reached out to Purrfect Seniors for help finding Toast and Jam a forever home. Not 24 hours after her profile went live, she found her match - an older woman named Marg who recently lost her cat and was seeking companionship. A few days later, Toast and Jam was adopted at PetSmart with the help of the Purrfect Seniors Team and Sponsorship Program.

Now called “TJ”, she has settled into her new home very well. Marg couldn’t be happier - having TJ gives her a sense of purpose and routine as well as meaningful companionship. The two of them have bonded well. TJ sleeps with her head just under Marg’s chin and when they get up in the morning, TJ wraps around Marg’s legs when going to the kitchen to get breakfast. At night, Marg tells TJ it’s time to go to sleep and she is the first to hop onto the bed and get comfortable. TJ also has her favourite spots, such as on the top of the couch when the sun shines through and the window sill.

We’re so glad that TJ found her purrfect match through our sponsorship of her adoption fee and her annual routine exam and vaccinations. TJ’s story reflects the power of thoughtful matchmaking and community support—ensuring senior cats aren’t overlooked and that adopters gain a steady, loving presence in their lives. We are so happy to have played a part in their story!
