Miss Kitty (Formerly Lightning)

Lightning is a stunning 10-year-old girl. Unfortunately, the first part of her life were not ideal. She was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation and was pregnant as a senior. Arthur Animal Rescue gave Lightning the vet care she desperately needed and placed her in a safe foster home where she waited to find her forever home.

Lightning waited to be adopted for some time after her kittens did, and Purrfect Seniors stepped into help. They agreed to sponsor Lightning’s adoption fee and annual routine exam and vaccinations for a suitable family looking to adopt her. Purrfect Seniors also gave Lightning increased visibility online which allowed her to find her forever home.

In October 2025, after waiting over 250 days, Lightning’s forever family found her. As an older couple who recently lost their beloved 16-year-old female cat, they were unsure about adopting again. When they learned more about Lightning’s story and the offerings of Purrfect Seniors’ Sponsorship, they knew they were meant to adopt her.

Lightning is now called “Miss Kitty” and is a safe and loving home. She is taking her time to get settled and is very affectionate towards her family when she comes out of hiding.

Miss Kitty’s story demonstrates how persistent advocacy and representation is critical for overlooked cats. She also reminds us that older animals have so much love to give, and the broad benefits that pet companionship offers.
